How to Make the Perfect Tablescapes

We at Abbey Catering and Event Design know that, at a wedding, all eyes will focus on your tablescapes, so it’s important to get it right. A well designed table can bring color and life to any party setting and will direct the eye to the things that are important in the arrangement.
A common starting point is with the color scheme, and many brides choose to compliment the colors of the wedding attire with the theme of the reception room. While there is a good reason to do this, there are also other options which will liven up the room and really impress your guests. Going monochromatic and highlighting different shades of the same color adds a look of boldness and grandiosity, and working with your existing colors ties everything together to create a unified look. One daring suggestion is to work with all of your main and accent colors, alternating the colors between tables. Another is mixing square and round tables.
We’ve been keeping a close eye on the trends and fashions of 2011 and one subject that has been big news is the use of themes to provoke a series of ideas. A great example of this is a Twilight-inspired tablescape, using an apple – a feature on the front cover – as a recurring theme throughout the ornaments and colors on the table. Using your favorite moments, books, films or even fairy tales, The Abbey will work with you anyways we can to create your vision and give your event a memorable and unique edge.
Coronado Community Center

Coronado boasts some of the most beautiful views of downtown San Diego, which makes it a perfect location for a wedding. The Coronado Community Center is a popular choice for those who want to combine a breathtaking location with top-notch amenities. The Nautilus Banquet Hall comfortably seats 250 people, and is situated right next to a ceremonial lawn which overlooks Glorietta Bay and the skyline of San Diego.
The location of the Community center is just one of the selling points for the venue. Aside from this, many brides flock to the center for the amenities it provides, such as large reception room, patio for cocktails and photographs and doors which open up onto the bay. The venue has its own kitchen, and allow full flexibility with vendors to allow you to personalize the wedding exactly how you wish. Tables and Chairs are even included!
Another plus point for the Coronado Community Center is the location for visiting guests. The Center has an ample parking area, and there is an endless choice of accommodation for those
who have a few too many glasses of bubbly by the bay. Being by the bay allows the ocean breeze to tantalize the senses as they waft in through the fully sliding, fully open, ocean side doors.
The venue costs $400 by the hour and $200 by the hour if you are a current resident of Coronado. But make sure to book quickly and far in advance! The coronado venue is high prized and is usually booked for two years at any given time.
The Coronado Community Center is a popular wedding choice and offers so much that it’s no wonder it has become one of Abbey’s highly recommended preferred venues. Just as the Coronado Community Center has The Abbey Catering and Event Design as their #1 caterer!

The Art is Alive with a Myriad of Flowers and a Menagerie of Martini Mixers

50,000 flowers from the best floral design teams dangled in every possible position as wonderful bouquets and artistic arrangements along the walls and halls of Baloboa Park’s Museum of Art.
Where to my delight the beautiful aroma of flowers wafted through the air welcoming me as I entered this scene of fantastic art and floral display. Many mingling and merrily refreshed onlookers wandered amidst surroundings which emanated an ambiance of an enchanted garden. It was In that moment I could feel this was an event put together with style, class and soul. Chilled martini glasses hung as forbidden fruit among orange and ruby roses which transitioned nature and play in a heavenly style, as if they were apples asking to be picked and savored.

As I turned from the menagerie and martini tree toward other delectables I was enticed to find the flavor of the artists and the flavor of the fine dining were in perfect harmony. Each taste from my avant-garde mashed potato martini possessed and mused with the visual taste of the décor and design. While each sip of my classic martini fulfilled my desire while I pondered the magic involved and thirsted for more time among this spellbinding Walk through the Arts. Unknowingly I came to the San Diego Museum of the Arts with an fantastical hunger and left full of wonder, filled in spirit, and rich in taste.
To Wed or not to Wed, that is the Question.

Whether tis nobler in the mind to serenade,
in the ceremony and matriomony of family,
or to braisen oneself against a sea of tradition.
For when it comes to weddings there are choices to be made. Most choose to take their lover’s hand down the isle through a floral wonderland. The venue can change in general; but as you can see, the beauty of the Cuvier Club to the left brings nature’s select beauty into a wedding. The manners of a traditional wedding are usually the same, there is a lavish party planned for months with each detail in perfect harmony, every bit hanging on that perfect moment; until that time when the unity of two lives becomes one–within the surroundings of family and friends, amidst a world of fantastical décor and alive with spiritual sublimity.
There is always another road you can go down and that is toward the city of lights, which can tempt any soul into its seductive and lavish lifestyle; but only as a brief and bright flame. Some do choose to enter the concrete wilderness and wed at whim. They can do so within the company of a resurrected Elvis singing sweet songs of holy matrimony or with strung cans jingling as they coast past a drive through reception; quickly buying themselves a happy meal wedding. For some, this spur of the moment gamble feels genuine in their hearts and with the excitement of a Las Vegas strip some could see why.
Each has their own way and their own path they must take down the isle and life. Both innately bring their own sense of beauty or excitement into the world and each aim to deliver the most amazing time that individual could have. So do you drive through the city of lights or trail down an isle of roses?
So we Ask, Should a Wedding be a Short and Sweet Slice of Serendipity or the Grand and Gorgeous Chorus of Tradition?
