Kim and Tim’s wedding reception on the shore of Mission Bay, San Diego took place in the Sunset Room at the Marina Village venue. Directly overlooking the water and boats line on the horizon, this venue offers a truly awesome view to its guests. The families had a night to remember and partied it up until the cows came home, with DJ Randy on the turntable playing the hits all night long.
The Abbey staff was there to accommodate their every need and supplied them with all the food, drinks, and cheese they could stomach. Cheese you say? Well it is no secret that Wisconsin families love their cheese and this family was no different. The McCormac family even provided all the guests with Wisconsin cheese curd at as wedding gift!
The Abbey staff also provided the McCormac’s with a full service bar, multiple organic cheese & vegetable platters, and appetizers to welcome the wedding party. The wedding package included some of The Abbey’s signature options which made for a great looking, sounding, and well documented wedding! They chose a professional wedding photographer to document all the details – big, small, happy and nervous, and all aspects of the wedding, to make it truly unforgettable. The McCormac’s also chose a professional DJ to keep the energy up and more importantly to keep people partying on the dance floor! The floral package they chose included an amazing bridal bouquet for the bride and individual bouquets for all her maids, boutonnières for the groom and all his men, and center pieces for each table. The specialty linen was the last detail in their package and although it may not seem like a big decision for the reception, I assure you it can make or break the look and feel of the room. The McCormac’s chose a burgundy and ivory rosette combination for the tables that looked fantastic with the gold chairs, as pictured above.

At the Sunset Cliffs Estate, the sun shone down on a beautiful wedding with vibrant colors of lemon yellows and lime greens and completed this new breathtaking venue. Right on the sea level with striking sunset we witnessed two people in love, getting married on a glorious Saturday. Three food stations, including our Abbey Braised Short Ribs, were definitely a hit. I wish I could count how many compliments that we got that night, as there is nothing more satisfying than a happy client. Flour Power went beyond any expectations as well and delivered a beautiful main cake and cupcakes that were hard to resist on any kind of diet. Everyone had such a great time and brought endless smiles to our professional stuff. From bottom of our hearts we are thankful to be a part of such a special day and we wish Laurette and Mike the best of luck and never ending love on this new journey in life!

Where else could have been better to hold a fabulous Asian-inspired rehearsal dinner for 70 people than a private residence overlooking Mission Bay and SeaWorld’s spectacular fireworks. The venue definitely gave the event a very intimate cozy feel where the guests were able to mingle freely. To make the day as stress-free for the client as possible, our staff at the Abbey arranged for all of the rentals, such as the linens, tables, chairs, belly bars, staff, and of course our gourmet food.
The flow reception lasted for three hours. This meant that the guests were able to enjoy themselves without haste. One and a half hours were dedicated to cocktail hour with an open bar while we served our very popular beef wellington, refreshing Ahi Poke served on cucumber rounds, coconut crusted shrimp, and of course our famous hummus: Roasted Garlic, Indian spice, and roasted red pepper. For the last hour and a half our guests enjoyed the station style dinner. The Asian themed dinner consisted of marinated salmon over pad Thai noodles, chicken kabobs with Teriyaki sauce served over fried rice served in cute Chinese take-out boxes.
The themed colors were a crisp white, green, and different shades of orange, and the beautiful flower arrangements done by Erin Kluzak made this evening even more spectacular! Another great event that I am very proud to have been a part of!

Rushing waterfalls, blooming scenery and lush bamboo groves set the scene for the exotic wedding ceremony at San Diego Botanical Gardens. The bride, groom and their 200 close friends and family got to share this beautiful occasion in a breathtaking setting. Tucked away into corners of the gardens were romantic details; pictures of the happy couple throughout their courtship, a photo printing station so that guests received instant memories of the special day and a sign-in book where they wished the loved-up pair future happiness. The all-inclusive package meant a stress free day for the bride and groom and allow them to focus, enjoy, and relish their special day. This striking jewel-toned themed wedding was highlighted by a gourmet 3 tiered cake from Baby Cakes, classic hairstyles and flawless make-up by Leland, the talented and trained eye of videographer Tareq, skilled creative photographer Deb Shields, and extraordinary flowers by Artquest Florist. Wine from the family vineyard made the day even more memorable and beautifully complimented the Mediterranean styled dinner prepared by highly trained Abbey Catering chefs. Family and friends rounded off the evening dancing under the stars to the sounds of the Matt Yeakley band and DJ Alex Trumbo. Everyone was left aglow with the magic of the evening and memories that will last a lifetime.

When San Diego brides were asked, “What’s your biggest wedding day regret?”, many of them said they wished they had hired a videographer in addition to friends and family filming the event. A long-standing tradition in wedding planning has been choosing the right photographer, but now many brides are turning to moving images to remember every detail of their ‘I do’.
As technology changes, newly weds are becoming more technology-savvy, using video hosting websites such as YouTube.com and Facebook to show off their wedding day. Choosing a professional video company offers you the benefits of having not only a full length movie of their special day, but edited ‘teaser’ videos to post to extended friends’ networks on various social networking sites. This is also a benefit for those who could not make it to be there in person, or as a consolation for those who simply didn’t make the guest list.
A popular trend at the moment is ‘first look’ weddings. Often the bride and groom miss out on enjoying the romantic reunion at the altar with all eyes on them from friends and family, but many are now opting to enjoy that special moment alone, with just the videographer to capture the tell-it-all emotions of love which his expression will show. This is a perfect scene to have edited into any wedding video, as it will serve as an eternal reminder of what their wedding day stands for; love, admiration and unity.
