Seaside Escape

On Friday, the sixth of August, The La Jolla Woman’s Club was transformed into a beautiful seaside escape. With green moss balls swaying from a large picturesque tree in the courtyard guests were welcomed to their cocktail hour. As the Abbey servers delivered mouth watering hors d’oeuvres to each individual guest, they couldn’t help but smile and reach for seconds. Dinner was especially delightful thanks to a menu created specially by the bride and groom. With Mojito Chicken and Lemongrass Tilapia, you could be sure that all palettes were pleased this evening. FlourPower made this couple’s night even more memorable by creating an original cupcake master piece. Each individual cupcake held a handmade sugar seashell blanketed by aqua blue frosting. Yum! Nothing compliments dessert more than a fabulous European Espresso from EuroBar. As the lights went dim the party started to heat up. The DJ, who was also a friend of the bride and grooms, spun mixes that had guests on their toes the entire night. The bride was not afraid to hike up her dress and bust out her moves when joining their guest in celebration. As the clock neared the final hour the guest were pleased to all have been invited to an extended party nearby. Wow! What a night to remember.
Grace and remembrance be to you both.

It surely was a day to remember for the nearly 100 guests that
attended this special occasion . The ceremony took place at
Calumet Park in La Jolla. With the amazing ocean view in the
background, there was hardly a dry eye to be found. The
marvelous wedding reception was held at the elegant La Jolla
Woman’s Club nearby. This lovely couple chose our All Inclusive

cakes from FlourPower, one of the kind photographer Tande
from Studio D, Best Beverage Bar Service, up lights that set the
amazing tone for the entire evening, Artquest Florist, hair and
makeup, Deluxe Euro Coffee Bar and of course digital camera docking station. The digital camera docking station is provided

more popular. Guests can mingle with the camera and capture

scrap book provided by our client only highlights just a portion
of this remarkable event. We were able to upgrade the couple’s
rentals to our very high end Chiavari chairs that added extra
class and elegance to the reception. We were more than
delighted by the many compliments from the guests and we
wish the newlyweds a bright and happy future together!

There really is nothing quite like a beautiful afternoon in San Diego. Couple that with a lovely wedding ceremony at a beautiful venue and you are bound to have a day to remember. It was another picturesque day in downtown La Jolla at the La Jolla Woman’s Club. Dorothy and Jeremy’s special day was about to begin and The Abbey team was quickly putting the finishing touches on a reception. Our couple was married in front of the famous LJWC fountain by ordained minister Lois. The back patio was adorned with luxurious contemporary lounge furniture to compliment the “flow” reception that was to take place right after the ceremony. Our presented buffet, Martini Tree Bar , and Espresso Station from Eurobar also framed the back garden reception. Afterward, the guests were treated to a cocktail hour in the garden, followed by a fantastic sit down dinner service.
Then it was time for the party to really begin. Dj Randy took the stage and regaled guests with music selected by our happy couple. Nothing gets, and keeps, a party moving like the precision sounds of DJ Randy. As the cake was served and the dancers began to slow down…there was no doubt that all in attendance had the time of their life. And none more than the bride and groom themselves. The night was a hit!
It was a distinct pleasure working with Dorothy and Jeremy to make their day so wonderful. Congrats to the happy couple.

The perfect blend of music played as the radiant bride, in her enchanting dress, as she walked into the Rose Garden of the Darlington House for a reception to remember. As friends and family were fighting back tears of joy, the bride and groom were greeted by the natural beauty of the blooming roses as well as the amazing arrangements provided by Artquest Floral, an Abbey Preferred Vendor. As the evening progressed, Valerie and Patrick enjoyed a wonderful meal followed by an exceptional beautiful cake by FlourPower. When the morsels had all been eaten, it was time to get down and boogie. And the bride put her fabulous shoes through quite a workout on the dance floor with mix of music from Blake of DJ Randy’s pleasing everyone there. It truly was the topper to the end of a perfect day in La Jolla. All of us at The Abbey wish you the best in your new life together. It has been a sublime pleasure getting to know you both and helping in making your wedding day so perfect.

When San Diego brides were asked, “What’s your biggest wedding day regret?”, many of them said they wished they had hired a videographer in addition to friends and family filming the event. A long-standing tradition in wedding planning has been choosing the right photographer, but now many brides are turning to moving images to remember every detail of their ‘I do’.
As technology changes, newly weds are becoming more technology-savvy, using video hosting websites such as YouTube.com and Facebook to show off their wedding day. Choosing a professional video company offers you the benefits of having not only a full length movie of their special day, but edited ‘teaser’ videos to post to extended friends’ networks on various social networking sites. This is also a benefit for those who could not make it to be there in person, or as a consolation for those who simply didn’t make the guest list.
A popular trend at the moment is ‘first look’ weddings. Often the bride and groom miss out on enjoying the romantic reunion at the altar with all eyes on them from friends and family, but many are now opting to enjoy that special moment alone, with just the videographer to capture the tell-it-all emotions of love which his expression will show. This is a perfect scene to have edited into any wedding video, as it will serve as an eternal reminder of what their wedding day stands for; love, admiration and unity.

The arrival of this couple’s perfect day brought a tearful excitement to the 200 guests!! The gorgeous Southern California sun smiled upon the La Jolla Woman’s Club on Saturday July 3rd. The outdoor wedding was a wonderful setting for a special day. The tables were draped with flowing blue satin linens and the natural blooms of the surrounding scenery gave their colors of teal and gold a perfect sparkle! When evening came, and the sun set off the San Diego Coast, the beautiful outdoor lighting lit up the Club. Guests filled the dance floor and the staff kept the Eurobar coffee flowing. As the festivities settled, The Abbey Catering surprised this lovely couple a magnificent room at the Bed and Breakfast Inn! Amazing fresh flowers and rose peddles were scattered about, appetizers and champagne awaited their arrival! It was a picture perfect day in La Jolla for Desiree and Ryan’s wonderful wedding. With the golden sun shining and powerful waves crashing on the beach, the tone was set for this beautiful union. Chef Matt of The Abbey catered to the guests with his masterful culinary technique as he delivered handcrafted appetizers and a sweetly perfected dinner for all in attendance. DJ Randy set the mood with the music, while Tareq of Time Code Media and Renata of Studio D captured every special moment between our bride and groom. Desi’s mom and maid of honor Victoria, created a playful candy bar which delighted guests with sweet treats to get them ready for another spectacular creation from Babycakes, compliments of Christopher. Guests enjoyed dancing, good conversation and a memorable time as the sun set on another gorgeous La Jolla dazzling evening. A perfect day for two very special people!
A wedding for all to remember fondly.

There’s no higher compliment for us here at The
Abbey than to see the smiles on a bride and
groom’s face at the end of an evening. Second
only would be the smiles on the faces of their
guests. We were honored to provide those
smiles to Maggie and Kevin at their wedding at
the La Jolla Woman’s Club. They had one goal,
that everyone have a great time.
“Rob–thanks for all your help–you were 100% on
top of things and virtually EVERYONE said they
had a great time. Everything looked classy,
efficient, tasty (food and desert was great) and
the staff was very friendly — you and Rob,
held true to your promise that it’ll be a night to
remember. Maggie and I had only one desire and
that was for all in attendance to have a great
time, bond, re-connect, establish new
friendships, and for one night, forget about
life’s uncertainties, disappointments and
stress – from the feedback we received,
I think you were highly responsible for
accomplishing all of that!-thanks again .”
– Best, Kevin
From the elegant cake, provided by
Baby Cakes, to the most delicious cuisine,
the evening was a complete success.
Truly, a picture is worth a 1,000 words,
especially with Julie Buchta Davis taking
those pictures.
