This loving couple started their journey of being married to one another at the La Jolla Darlington House on Saturday July 31th. The ceremony and reception were decorated with deep purple and delicate white linens. After the “I Do’s” were said, the night began with a full sit down meal served to all 130 guests. Everyone was very pleased with the efficient and orderly superb service. For dinner we served our highly desired Citrus Marinated Chicken, cooked to perfection and finished in Champagne, fresh herb and light cream sauce. The duel entrée was completed by Black Angus New York Strip rubbed with sea salt, fresh herbs and stuffed with garlic and seasoning carved for each guest according to their temperature liking. The unique colors and ambiance created by the music was a heartwarming experience for both, the special couple and their guests. As guests partied at the end of the night there was a feeling of pure love and joy in the rose garden, where the wedding nuptials had taken place.
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

The wedding day of this special couple was located at the bay front Coronado Community Center. There were 200 privileged guests which attended this marvelous event. Outside, on a luscious green lawn the couple said “I do” while a harpist was gently plucking peaceful tunes. The color scheme of this wedding was chocolate brown and purple, with the two colors creating an impeccable harmony inside the reception hall. The center pieces for the tables had branches of a Manzanita, with dangling chains of crystal beads, some of which had candles that created a delicate ambiance which the guests enjoyed along with their entrées. White orchids added to the center pieces elegance and sense of bliss.
The main courses were presented as four separate gourmet stations scattered throughout the reception room to maintain a good flow of service and efficiency for the guests. A “Glamorous Slider Bar” was the first station and served up some scrumptious all Angus beef sliders supplied with a surplus of condiments. Another station had authentic Mexican cuisine including flat ironed “Carne Asada”, “Pollo Asada”, a papaya salad medley with organic greens, slivered almonds, Cotija cheese and topped with a citrus honey vinaigrette. To accommodate any desire and taste, an Oriental station was also presented with appetizing Buckwheat Soba noodles with a garlic soy sauce and pan roasted button mushrooms and Thai peppers all served in Chinese “To-Go” boxes. Last but in no way least… the Mashed Potato Martini Bar. Glass Martini glasses filled with garlic mashed potatoes hung from our unique Signature Abbey Martini Tree and was a phenomenal success.
The clients left the reception with all of their expectations exceeded and created memories they will carry with them forever. Tiffany and Silver inspired wedding-bayside in Coronado

The bride had a vision of springtime classic with a vintage twist. Incorporating the essence of spring-opened tulips and branches, with little lovebirds nesting on them, spread throughout the event. On an Sunday afternoon in April, we had the pleasure of assisting Thu and Luke make their special day and night to remember. With an amazing venue like the Nautilus Room at the Coronado Community Center, it’s hard to go astray. The amazing floral designs by Artquest Floral, incorporated pink hydrangeas, garden roses, and tulips with sprigs of black willow branches making a dramatic statement- including the Tiffany blue colored water with submerged Dendrobuim orchids. Placed on tables dressed in silver satin that matched the chair covers, from Elegant Events, gave it a kind of vintage look. The guests were served a seated dual entree of Salmon en Croute and Chianti-braised Beef Loin after the abundance of tray-passed hors d’ouevres and signature cocktails. After dinner, it was time to party and the up lit, colorful walls provided the perfect backdrop for that while guests noshed on the delicious cake from Flour Power! My favorite- the brides awesome birdcage headpiece and equally awesome bouquet of peonies. It was a great ending for a sweet couple! Every event, be it a wedding, party or fund raiser, wants to be able to leave a lasting impression on it’s guests. This can be achieved in a variety of unique ways. One such way is by including the one of a kind, Abbey Signature Martini Tree. Holding 99 martini glasses, filled with any kind of beverage, appetizer, or floral piece, this event enhancer is sure to be talked about. We were able to utilize this item in a very attractive, eye-catching way at the recent 2010 Art Alive: Culture and Cocktails event. Our Executive Director, Jesika Leszewski-Grove, was able to make the tree stand out with many different flowers that tied into the theme of the evening. To say that the tree was a conversation piece would be an understatement. One event goer was heard saying, “That would be great for our outdoor family reunion”. Aside from the beauty of this amazing piece, it is extremely versatile as well. Being able to access it from almost any direction, keeps the flow of guests is smooth and effortless. I think that this is a feature that would enhance any party and will continue to expand as we utilize it more and more. If you too would like to have this at your next event, please let us provide you with thoughts, ideas and ways to utilize this incredible event feature. Just get in touch with us here.
The Gold, Royal inspired tablescape…fit for a princess!

For the La Jolla Bridal Show, Arturo and Nathan of Artquest Florals, designed this eye-catching decadent gold tablescape. With shades of gold and champagne (who needs more than that ladies!) and heaving beading, this tablescape got the royal treatment. To contrast the golds, Artquest created the queen of all focal points- the high centerpiece of bright shades of garden Roses, Calla Lilies, and Thaitian, Dendrobium and Cymbidium Orchids- continuing the contrast with the large white roses. Even the candle holders, crystal, charger plates and chairs were dressed for the occasion and dripping in gold. This table belonged in a ballroom of a fairytale castle, with the royal couple dancing the night away…how can we make your fairytale day happen?

A Wedding in Wonderland…

With the Mt. Woodson Castle in the background, Our happy couple were married and then headed to Wonderland… No white rabbits, but plenty of Alice, inspired this couples’ Special Day. From the whimsical kissing balls and red and white floral by Artquest Florals (which inspired me to sing “painting the roses red” all night), to the delectable 3 tiered cake from Babycakes, to the quaintly named tables and my favorite- “eat me” and “drink me” tags hanging from favors and cocktails- this event made me feel as if I was in a storybook. Chef Matt served themed tray-passed hors d’ oeuvres and a scrumptous Dual Entree, which was served at our Chef-presented Station. Along with the guests, my staff enjoyed every bit of this event and the new couple…. drifted off into Wonderland!
Follow us down the rabbit hole and tell us what theme you’d like to have at your wedding.

A beautiful day in La Jolla set the tone for one very special couple Kathy & Bob. The table settings were immaculate and the cake was a work of art. Appetizers flowed from the kitchen as guests mingled in the courtyard awaiting the arrival of our Bride and Groom. Bob was dashing in his tuxedo and Kathy was a vision of perfection. The music kicked up and dinner service started. Our chefs knocked another one out of the park with a spectacular presentation at the buffet. Our team came together to wow and amaze yet again. Best wishes Bob and Kathy on a life filled with love and happiness. To find out more about the La Jolla Woman’s Club Venue or any other San Diego site, start you journey here.

‘Nautical Nightlife’ Tabletop
Posted by: Jesika Leszewski-Grove
March 8th, 2010 >> Notes from the Director, Tablescapes
Designed by Sales Executive Rob Leszewski, this refreshing tabletop was a hit at the La Jolla Bridal Show, at the La Jolla Woman’s Club, on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Starting with the stark white satin table linen placed under a navy blue dupioni silk linen with square cut-outs, together this combination provided a textured look and was complimented by the bright contrast of the yellow napkins- all by Elegant Events Party Rentals. Rob added to the contemporary vibe with white lounge furniture and square china atop silver chargers, provided by Best Rentals. The finishing touch of clean lines, with glass cylinders, in different sizes, filled with bright yellow shades of ranunculus, roses, and lilies was added by Artquest Floral. Inspired by a contemporary take on the nautical theme- this table scape would be great for any swanky event with a view of the sea. Makes me feel like it belongs on hardwood deck on a yacht cruising the San Diego Bay- Ahoy!
Shabby Chic Table in the Garden
Posted by: Jesika Leszewski-Grove
March 5th, 2010 >> Notes from the Director, Tablescapes
Ladies… if you are a hopeless romantic with a chic style and you aren’t afraid of a little pink- this is the table for you! I designed this for the La Jolla Bridal Show and placed it under a sprawling tree in the gardens as the perfect background for this ‘dreamy’ table. Elegant Events provided the decadent white satin ‘Rosette’ linen (with matching napkins in an Ivory to stand out and add texture) as the ‘base’ for this table-scape. The crystal glassware, platinum rimmed china, and gleaming silverware from Rapahel’s, provided the perfect table setting- and I placed it on layered chargers (round clear glass on top of silver) to add dimension. Of course, all of that is to compliment the whimsical floral scape centered around a wrought iron torseau with garden roses, ranniculus, and french lavendar that Arturo, from Artquest Floral, designed to ‘make’ this table. Complimented by rose votives, white-washed chivarri chairs and a hanging wrought-iron cage filled with mossballs- this table made me feel as if it should be in a Parisian garden.
