Happy Honeymooners Return

September 30th, 2010 >> Notes from our Clients, Preferred Venues, Weddings
In this business, we have the opportunity to work with thousands of brides and grooms. With all those ceremonies, relationships with the clients begin to develop and spending so much time together over the many months before their special day, we get to know them as friends too. In most instances, we don’t get to have too much contact with them after the event, but from time to time we have the privilege of staying in touch. When Jared and Jill, our happy couple from June returned from their world-wind honeymoon, they let us know all about their trip, and also thanked us for helping them have a very memorable wedding at Coronado Community Center. We want to wish them continued happiness and a long and happy life together.
Hi Petr,
We are back from our wonderfully long honeymoon! Thank you guys so much for making our wedding day such a success and relatively stress-free. You made the wedding a perfect event! Much thanks to The Abbey.
I had high expectations of the food being good because the food tasting was so good. The wedding food seemed of the same quality which is really impressive when serving so many people.
I thought the Abbey did a great job, they turned my low budget wedding into something that people thought cost double what we paid, which is always a great feeling. If I had a need for catering in the future I would use them again. Much thanks to The Abbey.

Sunday August 8th belonged to
our special bride and groom.
This fairytale ceremony and
reception was held at the
Within thirty minutes we
completed an extravagant sit
down dinner for 200 guests.
The entire wedding was very
traditional with colors of gold
and champagne. The clear and
gold crystals accentuated the
gold linens and added extra
class to this dream come true
wedding. The candle lit tables
made for a truly romantic
evening.
The floral arrangements
complimented the bridal
party’s sun kissed yellow
gowns. Just like any fairytale,
the day would not have been
complete without the horse
and carriage for pictures.
I was truly privileged to take
part of this wonderful day and
am sure the bride and groom
will live happily ever after!

On a picture perfect day the bride and groom tied the knot at the beautiful Coronado Community Center. Though the ceremony was performed at the Hotel Del, the entire bridal party made their way to the beautifully decorated outdoor patio at the CCC for the real festivities. The bay view was the backdrop for cocktail and appetizers. Blue paper lanterns were swinging in the breeze and added a magical touch to the scene.
To add a personal touch to the occasion, the guests names were painted on sand dollars and displayed in sandboxes to help everyone find their tables. The Nautilus room was lovely in blue, silver and white with spectacular flower arrangements on each table. Each guest had a delicious lemon flavored cookie in the shape of a sand dollar at their place setting.
It might be one of those little details that get over looked by most, but The Abbey Catering works very hard to work with clients to help make sure that the wedding they have envisioned is the wedding that they enjoy on their special day. We would love to make your day just as special. Contact us here for details.
We congratulate the B & G and thank them for letting us be a part of their special day!

A ceremony on the beautiful beach at the Hotel Del in Coronado can be one of the most unique and memorable weddings imaginable in San Diego. The lovely bride and groom said their I Do’s and were then whisked away to the Coronado Community Center for a magical reception be the waterfront. With over 200 guests, the venue was filled yet retained an intimate atmosphere all evening. For Catering, the attendees enjoyed a flow reception, with 4 different food stations to ensure everyone’s palette’s were satisfied to their hearts content. A Summer salad station served the delicious Abbey Signature Salad and Caesar salad in martini glasses. A Baja Mexican station accompanied by a Southern Style Station with fried chicken, gourmet white cheddar Mac & Cheese & Cajun coleslaw to give a variety to please everyone.. Last but not least was the Protein Station serving Black Angus New York Strip with Abbey famous Southern Style Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Two different kinds of cakes and a chocolate fountain were the absolute “cherry on the top” to close this tremendous feast.
Like many other Abbey couples, these newlyweds decided to take advantage of our All Inclusive Wedding Package and chose to Honeymoon in our luxurious Maui Condo. This has always been a popular option in choosing the different package items. We can wait to see some of the pictures from paradise. The wedding day of this special couple was located at the bay front Coronado Community Center. There were 200 privileged guests which attended this marvelous event. Outside, on a luscious green lawn the couple said “I do” while a harpist was gently plucking peaceful tunes. The color scheme of this wedding was chocolate brown and purple, with the two colors creating an impeccable harmony inside the reception hall. The center pieces for the tables had branches of a Manzanita, with dangling chains of crystal beads, some of which had candles that created a delicate ambiance which the guests enjoyed along with their entrées. White orchids added to the center pieces elegance and sense of bliss.
The main courses were presented as four separate gourmet stations scattered throughout the reception room to maintain a good flow of service and efficiency for the guests. A “Glamorous Slider Bar” was the first station and served up some scrumptious all Angus beef sliders supplied with a surplus of condiments. Another station had authentic Mexican cuisine including flat ironed “Carne Asada”, “Pollo Asada”, a papaya salad medley with organic greens, slivered almonds, Cotija cheese and topped with a citrus honey vinaigrette. To accommodate any desire and taste, an Oriental station was also presented with appetizing Buckwheat Soba noodles with a garlic soy sauce and pan roasted button mushrooms and Thai peppers all served in Chinese “To-Go” boxes. Last but in no way least… the Mashed Potato Martini Bar. Glass Martini glasses filled with garlic mashed potatoes hung from our unique Signature Abbey Martini Tree and was a phenomenal success.
The clients left the reception with all of their expectations exceeded and created memories they will carry with them forever. A Glorious Day on Glorietta Bay

Lavender florals abounded.
On a picture perfect day at The Coronado Community Center, Amber and Robert, tied the knot and became “Mr. and Mrs.” in front of a gathering of their family and friends. After a lovely ceremony held on the lawn overlooking Glorietta Bay, the new couple led their guests to the patio to enjoy cocktails and hors d’ourves . The pulled chicken and mango quesadillas with Mozzarella and Pepper-jack cheeses were a winner and everyone also enjoyed the Tri-color bruschetta on oven-warmed crostini.
After cocktails, the guests were invited into the beautifully decorated Nautilus Room where a champagne toast was followed by a first dance by the “B & G”. Father-Bride dance and Groom-Mother dance brought tears and applause from the happy guests.
Guests were treated to a sumptuous lunch which started with The Abbey signature salad, followed by Panko crusted Chicken Parmesan topped with homemade tomato-basil sauce and shaved Parmesan cheese. A medley of sauteed summer vegetables and roasted new potatoes accompanied the main entree.
The bride and groom cut the cake as a final course to the delicious lunch and everyone enjoyed a sweet treat. The three tiered wedding cake from our good friends at Eidelweiss Bakery was as beautiful as it was tasty.
The Nautilus Room looked lovely in tones of lavender and the cake was decorated with gorgeous lavender roses. The cake table stole the show with lavender rose petals and tealights enhancing the scene.
From each tastefully decorated table, each guest had a spectacular view of the Glorietta Bay. Tables had party favors of tiny champagne glasses filled with elegant lavender candies and wrapped as a gift! Each guest also received a small scroll tied with a personal message from the “B & G” tied with ribbon and tucked into their tuxedo folded napkins. A personal treat that everyone enjoyed.
It was a memorable day and The Abbey Catering & Event Design staff was honored to be a part of it!

On Jan. 16th 2010, we executed a wonderful event at the Coronado Community Center. This all-inclusive package came complete with DJ, photographer, videographer, cake, floral, limo, day of coordinator and cuisine. We served our most popular and delicious signature dish, Salmon En Croute- fresh Wild Salmon baked in puff pastry with spinach, goat cheese, wild mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes. Complimented with cream cheese mashed potatoes. Next was the Chianti Braised Angus Superior Beef, grilled to perfection . As with most of the times, we served them as a dual entrée, with smaller portions of both, so everyone could taste these extraordinarily prepared dishes that The Abbey Catering and Event Design has to offer.

On December 20th, 2009 we operated a Christmas party at Coronado Community Center for the prestigious Ascent real-estate company. Providing a guest list of over 275 individuals, we decided to use an Indian theme this year for the event. Food, music, and fun were had by all. This was not our first year hosting an event, for this well known company, and thanks to our services and qualified staff, we are happy to admit that we more often than not have returning customers. Most important to our company is to provide the client with a unique and specialized experience to fit their every need.
