La Jolla Garden Club Event Set Up

Posted by: Quinn

April 14th, 2011 >> Abbey staff, Events, From the Kitchen, Other, Preferred Venues

The members of the La Jolla Garden Club arrive with decorations fully setup, the tables stocked with food, the Abbey servers patiently await to refill platters and answer questions as the event moves toward great success.  How did all this happen?  Preparation for all our events start many hours before and sometimes even a couple days before the event actually takes place.  We want to make sure the food tastes just right and that the layout looks just like what our clients have envisioned.

This specific event belongs to the  ladies of the La Jolla Garden Club and was hosted at the Cuvier Club in beautiful La Jolla, CA.  There was plenty of food for tasting and a book signing or two for small talk as the ladies began to stream in the door.  As they walked in they were met with beautiful standing flower vases and red luxurious quilt.  Entering the event hall the ladies gazed at tables filled with such things as scones, individual cakes and a variety of finger sandwiches.  Ornate, red umbrellas placed in stands floated overhead and fun decorative flower arrangements filled the center of the guest tables.  All was in place and the event begins.

All we need is a little time to prepare and you will get the event you always wanted.  Its as easy as clicking ahead and giving us a little direction and then we’ll take the lead….

An awards banquet put together to recognize leaders and employees of Prudential Real Estate who demonstrated excellence in supporting clients, annual sales, and hit the highest of achievements in the past year.
The Abbey Catering took this special event to a new level! One of our first events for our new venue Cuvier Club, located in La Jolla, CA, this red carpet event took place on March 31st and was held for the most elite 400 employees for Prudential Real Estate.

Events and Ceremonies can get plenty of catering and design work done.

We tell no lie when we say there was a red carpet and paparazzi.  Dressed to kill like the stars, these 400 guests were dressed to impress and walk the runway like it was theirs for the taking. Once inside, guests were able to wonder about and enjoy delectable food from one of the four tables provided by Abbey Catering. Each station contained, pan seared chicken breast in orange chicken marinade and drizzled with lemon and caper beurre blanc sauce and citrus infused basmati rice with diced seasonal grilled vegetables, and eclectic dessert bites!
Guests loved the brilliance and enthusiasm this event brought, the time and effort gone into this event was noticed and the company was overjoyed.

The Cuvier Club is the perfect place to host an awards ceremony.  Click ahead and create a rewarding awards ceremony for those you work with and the many great accomplishments each one has achieved….

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower

Everything was perfect for this amazing union

Everything was perfect for this amazing union

As the changing of the seasons take place all over the world, San Diego’s weather has one ultimate climate, which is perfect for year-round weddings. This fall themed wedding had a hint of Autumn with fabulous flowers that were rich with golds, oranges and deep reds. The centerpieces as nests, with love birds with eggs, resembled fertility and the dependence of one another on each other for eternity. The ceremony was held at the Darlington House, and it was a true transformation from a design perspective, with the false reality of being out of season, and out of the state.

The pathway was lit with the colors of Fall

The pathway was lit with the colors of Fall

The menu was made to warm up the guests with a delightful oven fresh Abbey Appetizer, and the traditional Abbey Catering menu was livened up with a new twist; a chorizo and cheese petite quesadilla topped with salsa fresco and guacamole, with a dab of chili pepper sauce to garnish. Abbey staff then made the rounds with an assortment of hummus, bright in color and rich in taste, served on a slice of pita. The pesto green to garlic yellow and sun dried tomato red created a tasty Fall rainbow. My favorite Abbey Appetizer, the  mini filet Wellington, was also served up to the hungry guests. A savory beef stew-marinated filet, with puff pastry covering this delicious treat, was topped off with a horseradish aioli – perfect for the Fall theme.

Immediately after the grand entrance, the guests took their seats and the sweet and healthy Abbey Salad was served. Made with freshly tossed garden greens, the dish was sprinkled with crumbled feta, accompanied with toasted walnuts and dried cranberries and finished with a raspberry vinaigrette. A tasteful selection of  The Abbey’s fine menu was prepared for our guests. Salmon encroute, a fresh farmed salmon with grilled spinach and light feta inside puff pastry,  was served with grilled greens and truffle mashed potatoes. A second choice of beef filet mignon with Chef  Matt’s special rub, was cooked just right and covered with a rich and creamy mouthwatering gravy. Bottles were popped and toasts made after the families celebrated a healthy new beginning with a wholesome meal.

This evening was lit just like a Broadway show,  the dancefloor was the late night center of attention thanks to DJ Randy. The beautiful cake courtesy of Flour Power was a centerpiece of its own, and later the guests enjoyed the  masterpiece and its three flavors, decorated with Autumn florals. The Darlington House is a perfect venue for a  quaint ceremony, and its guests can also have a wonderful evening reception all in one location, with the prestigious La Jolla shores just a few blocks away. Thanks to all the staff and all our vendors to make the Collins wedding a night to remember with The Abbey Catering Event and Design.

The gorgeous cake

The gorgeous cake

It was another perfect day in La Jolla,  San Diego. The weather was amazing and made for another beautiful wedding day at the Darlington House. This is one of my favorite venues, especially when all the trees are covered in lights and the twilight sparkle fills the sky.

The antiqued color theme for this wedding was burnt copper and shades of taupe, made to match the flower arrangements and decor perfectly, all illuminated by accent lighting. The champagne tree was lit and covered in flutes filled for a welcoming refreshment. As guests arrived, the ever so famous Abbey appetizers were being tray passed. The grand courtyard beneath the fountain was a perfect scene for various photographs of the gorgeous couple. These were accompanied by an enormous flower arrangement, floating candles and more clusters of candles surrounding the guests from head to toe, setting the mood for the evening.

The fresh Abbey appetizers come out, pleasing the guests with delicious New England blue crab cakes, crisped to perfection and topped off with a dab of lobster aioli. The fresh fish of the evening was ahi poke on a won ton wafer with a sesame sauce and sesame seeds for garnish. Our hand crafted array of hummus was prepared on a freshly baked pita flat bread, the variety of flavor so abundant that it offers tastes of the multiple ethnic influences we can offer. Our tri-colored bruschetta is tasty and hard to say no to, consisting of a garlic goat cheese, pesto and sun-dried tomato basil, garnished beautifully. The taste is something you must experience, as with all of the Abbey’s wonderful menu selections.

The evening was now underway and the excited couple captured all of this on film, with plenty of beautiful family pictures taken in the garden prior to the main course. The Abbey salad was altered to accommodate the tastes of our guests and the newlyweds, with slivered Almonds instead of candy coated walnuts, served with mixed greens and crumbled feta dried cranberries with a raspberry vinaigrette. The custom menu built by our executive chef Matt included a delicious panko chicken with a zaatar crust coating in a white wine reduction sauce, served with crisp asparagus and herb and basil infused rice. The larger head table was a great sight, the beautiful bridesmaids and happy groomsmen making the honorary speeches that always leads into a great toast.

The guests partied into the night and everyone seemed be on the dance floor breaking it down to our great DJs who were keeping the party going. Our fabulous event staff made it possible to accommodate such a fabulous event with above caliber service, and great tastes to fit any budget.
